Levi - Testicular Cancer
Gorgeous Levi came into our care in May 2009. He is eight years old and a wonderfully natured gentleman with a great sense of fun.

Unfortunately Levi was suffering with testicular cancer when he came in to our care. He was neutered shortly after being taken into foster.

Depsite being castrated, it would appear that Levi's cancer has spread and he has other health problems that may have been underlying previously.

He is currently thoroughly enjoying living with his boxer pals in foster and has been out on several BWS walks and is already becoming a favourite with us. His foster Mum is doing a great job of looking after him and he will be having regular visits to our vets. As you can see, Levi is very settled in his foster home, although these photos don't really show just how skinny he is.

Levi will continue to get all the vet care and medication he needs and he will remain in foster as we cannot rehome him with his current medical conditions. Levi is getting as much fuss, love and care any boxer could wish to have and we are rooting for him.
The reason we have used Levi's story is to hopefully stop other dogs suffering the same fate as him. Castration would have made it impossible for Levi to get testicular cancer and this IS a preventable disesase. Castration is a small operation for a dog and there are no real side effects, apart from appearance. However, an entire male runs the risk of suffering from an enlarged prostrate, which can be extremely painful for them, as well as testicular cancer.

Levi has amazed everyone, especially the vet, and continues to go from strength to strength. He still has problems with his stomach that cause him trouble every now and then, but his Mum helps him through these times and he has medication to keep it under control. He is loving his life and living it to the full, with his boxer brother and sister, Lou and Dudley. Everyone is just thrilled at Levi's recovery and his health is testament to the fantastic care his Mum and Dad give him.
