WHO WE ARE AND WHAT WE DO
Boxer Welfare Scotland was founded in January 2005 and we received our charity status as a boxer rescue not long afterwards. Since then we have rescued and rehomed over more than 250 boxers, through our adoption processes. Most of these rescue dogs come to us through no fault of their own. Some are ex breeding dogs abandoned by the breeders when they can no longer be used as a money machine. Some rescue boxers come to us because their owners can no longer give them the care and attention a boxer needs, some have been abused and some are just no longer wanted.
There are also those sad stories where people have found themselves in the position where they are no longer able to cope, through separation, illness or death, and are having to allow their beloved boxer to be given over to our rescue to be adopted and rehomed. We are here to rescue and care for all boxers in Scotland and to help them find a way to their new adopted families in the new forever homes they deserve.
Boxer Welfare Scotland also hopes to promote responsible dog ownership and, through training, help reduce the number of unwanted dogs. All our rehomed dogs are assessed before adoption.
Our founder, Lorraine Cumming and her team of dedicated volunteers commit a lot of their time, energy and love to helping rescue boxers in need across Scotland. Our volunteers are currently based in five main locations; Peterhead, Glasgow, Edinburgh, Falkirk and Moray. Our adoption and rescue policies help us ensure that all our rehomed boxers are safe, secure and well loved.
Lorraine is a Member of the Institute of Animal Care and Education (M.I.A.C.E) and is both experienced and qualified in animal behaviour, psychology and training.
There are a number of other volunteers throughout Scotland who assist Lorraine and her team in the successful running of the rescue. If you think you would like to volunteer, please visit our volunteering page.
Boxer Welfare Scotland is an independant charity and is NOT affiliated with any other rescue. If you apply to adopt a boxer through us, it will come from us and not another rescue.
