Alfie
  • Age: 2 (in March)
  • Dogs: Yes
  • Children: No children
  • Neutered: Yes

This handsome young chap is Alfie. Alfie has been with us since way back in November 2010, he has some behavioural and health issues. The health issues are controlled with medication which BWS will be responsible for. His behavioural problems have been improving as a result of the hard work of his foster mum.

Alfie has just turned a year and unfortunately suffers from epilepsy, irritable bowel syndrome and has a heart murmur. The epilepsy and IBS are controllable with medication and he is doing well with no issues since being with us. Boxer Welfare would pay the costs of his on going medication and anything related to the conditions that you can't insure against, for the rest of Alfie's life.

Due to Alfies behavioural problems he cannot be rehomed with children or to a home with visiting young children. Since being in foster, his behaviour has seen a huge improvement and we have to thank his foster mum for all her hard work. He really does need that special person that has the experience and has the time for him, someone willing to put in the hard work because it wont be easy. However he is a lovely boy and when that person does come along and puts in the work and time with Alfie they will be rewarded a million times over by the love he will give them.

UPDATE 13/02/12 - Alfie is having to get an operation on his elbow at Broadleys Veterinary Hospital in Stirling. Poor Alfie has been having problems with his leg for a few months now and after lots of trips to vet we have just found out he needs an op to fix it. Alfie unfortunately also suffers from epilepsy, irritable bowel syndrome and has a heart murmur but despite all of this he is a very happy boy. We know that his foster mum will take the best care of him after his operation and fingers crossed he recovers quickly.

If anyone would like to donate towards Alfie's operation, which we have been told is going to be at least £1000, we would be very grateful. Text ALFI12 £5 to 70070 to donate to Alfies Operation Fund. You can change the amount from £5 to £1, £2, £3, £4, £5 and £10. No credit card needed, you simply pay the donation with your phone bill next time thats due!

You can also donate on Alfies Big Give page by clicking here: http://new.thebiggive.org.uk/projects/view/15241

Alfie would ideally suit a couple or single person with no kids and a quiet environment, who have lots of time to spend with him and are experienced boxer/dog owners. He is in a lovely foster home with a doggie pal and is out for lots of walks with groups of dogs so he can be rehomed with other dogs. If you think you can offer a loving home to Alfie please contact us for a chat on 01224 515101 or alternatively find out how to adopt from BWS.
