Don’t I look smart!!

August 22nd, 2008

I am so excited, look how smart I look in my brand new hoodie!!

Pets at Home very kindly gave us a load of Scotland hoodies and clever Auntie Carrie put our logo on.  Now loads of boxers are running around in BWS hoodies!!

Mum says I look the part in a hoodie, but I just don’t know what she means??

Everyone is really busy still, Pets at Home are busy too as I hear there are two microchipping days coming up on 30th August and 20th September.  I am glad we can do that as it would be nice to know that all other dogs are as trackable as I am, now I am chipped!!

We had another holiday the other day, Dad wanted to go and see some cars, so off we went.  I was a very, very good girl and watched all the people walk past.  Mum says I can be good when I want to!

Right, had better go and annoy George now, he is being boring and sleeping and I need to burn off some energy!

Missing out on all the fun!

August 5th, 2008

Well it’s just not fair, I have been missing out on so much fun that everyone has been having at Boxer Welfare Scotland.

Firstly, on 27th June, loads of people and boxers went along to the Dog’s Trust Funday in Glasgow.  It’s too far for me to travel, so I have to miss out again!

Everyone at the stall

It’s too far for me, George and Millie to travel, so I have to miss out again!  Everyone had a wonderful time and they manage to raise over £400!  That’s wonderful and Mum says it is going to help us pay for some of our kennel and vet fees. I just think that they should all come and live here, but Mum says I am too grumpy!!

It looked like everyone had a lot of fun and I have enjoyed looking at the photos, I just wish Mum would let me use the mouse sometimes!!  If you want to see some of their pictures, they are on the website.

Hopefully, if I am good, I will be able to go next year.

As if it wasn’t bad enough that everyone got to meet up there, they are all having monthly boxer walks at Falkirk and Glasgow!  Can you believe it!!  You would think that as I was the mascot, that they wouldn’t hold these events without me, but obviously not.  I really really wish I could go on one of these as they look like so much fun.  All those boxer buddies to run around with.  All I have is grumpy old Millie and that lunatic George and I get into trouble if I chase him too much!

These walks are happening once a month and if you would like to join in, just pop along to our forum and join in the chat and find out when the next one is happening either at Cathkin Braes in Glasgow or the Falkirk Wheel.

Before I go, I had better let you know that my leg is now so much better. Mum had so much trouble keeping me quiet, I really don’t like being quiet you see! I like it best if I can run around the garden at top speed, but I kept making my leg bleed and had to come in again. The vet phoned Mum though and said that the lump was just a hystiocytoma. I don’t know what that was, but Mum seemed very pleased about it, so that’s good. I am back to normal now and causing as much trouble as I can though!

Ouch!

July 16th, 2008

Oh I am a poorly, sore boxer girl just now, although you wouldn’t think it to look at me!  I had to have an operation today on my leg - I shall tell you why!

The other day, I found a gap in Mum & Dad’s fence, it was big enough to chat to Diesel the Rottweiler who lives next door.  Of course me being me, chatting through the fence wasn’t enough and I needed to get closer so we could play.  Well I was taken home with a really bad cut on my leg and Mum had to rush me to the vet.  I have a lump right where the cut was and my leg wouldn’t stop bleeding!

So today I had to go and see Margaret, my vet, so she could make my leg better and take the lump out.  I had my operation first thing, but Mum had to come and get me as soon as I was awake.  I am so scared of being in a cage, because of that horrible man I lived with before, that I got all stressed and upset.  I make so much noise that no-one else can concentrate or get better, so they have to phone Mum to come and get me!! My bandages

They have been trying to keep me quiet since Monday, but that’s not easy.  I don’t like being kept in while George and Millie run around the garden and I am not even allowed to chase the cats, it’s just not fair!  So now I have a huge bandage on my leg and Mum keeps coming at me with a collar to put on me, but there is no way she is catching me to put that on!  I have to be good …………………. I suppose I could manage for an hour or so??

Off to get some more sympathy now!

Met lots of friends!!

June 17th, 2008

Hello again!

I had to tell you about all the fun I had this weekend.  We went to Dunfermline so Dad could see some more of those old cars, but I stayed with Mum and lots of friends came to see me us - well me really!

Lorraine & Carrie came up from Falkirk with Roxy and Teenie Annie and Ailsa came with her family from Dunfermline and they bought Spice.  It was great to meet so many other Boxer Welfare boxers and I did try my best to behave - honest!!

Mum, Lorraine and AimeeHere is Mum with Lorraine M and Aimee.  Old Spice is next to Mum and Lorraine has Roxy with Teeny Annie looking on.  Everyone had great fun and Aimee went off with her friend and managed to raise some money just by shaking a bucket!  It was great fun!  As you can see, I was being a good girl and lying down nicely some of the time.

I am a bit cross though, because Mum is going to Edinburgh next week to do the Great Scottish Walk and she said I can’t go because I wont be good on the lead.  I am going to practise all week to see if I can get better now!

Last weekend we had the Rouken Park Gala.  We couldn’t go because we were travelling down to Dunfermline, but Mum says everyone worked really really really hard and got Boxer Welfare Scotland £425.  That is wonderful, because I know there are lots of other boxers who need help and this will help everyone find them new homes.  I hope they are all as lucky as me, even if they aren’t as pretty as me, because I am very special you know!

My Mum and her brolly

Mum had a lovely weekend relaxing you know, while I did a lot of hard work and made sure everyone knew all about Boxer Welfare Scotland.  It’s hard work being a mascot, everyone wants to speak to you and spend time with you, but I don’t mind really, although I wish Mum would help more.  Look at her resting while I do all the work!!
Anyway, I had better go and annoy Millie and George now!

It’s me again!

June 10th, 2008

Hello Everyone!

Well I have been very busy helping my Mum with all the rescue work she has been doing.  There have been so many dogs coming in recently that my head is spinning with all of the names!  My Mum says her head is spinning too, but she says that’s because I am such a toad!!

We have been away in our campervan a couple more times and I was kind enough to let Millie and George come too.  Everybody just loves to see us, especially me of course because I am the cutest!!

I am really excited about going to Dunfermline next weekend because I am going to meet up with some of our Boxer Welfare Scotland friends.  It is always lovely to meet some of the people that help my Mum so much!  Shame we can’t go earlier though because we are going to miss Rouken Glen on 14th June, but I am sure everyone will have a wonderful time.  I am really looking forward to seeing all the photos of my boxer buddies enjoying themselves together!!  I bet they cause as much chaos as I do!

What has made me really sad recently is poor Biff.  He is 9 1/2 years old and needs a new home - how sad for him.  Hopefully someone will have a heart big enough to take him home soon. Biff I think he looks like such a friendly chap, it’s just a shame that he doesn’t like other dogs otherwise I would demand he comes and plays with me!!  (and I always get what I want, that’s what George says)

I am very excited though because I might be going to Pets at Home in Aberdeen soon!  Mum says that ALL the Pets at Home in Scotland are going to help look after Boxer Welfare Scotland and help us raise some money and let people know what we do.  It is very exciting and I am sure it is only because of my gorgeous face on all the logos!!!

My First Holiday!

May 19th, 2008

Well, how lucky am I??!  I got to go away this weekend to Bridge of Allan in our new toy - woohooo! Dad had a car show to go to and  I was very kind and let George and Millie come too! Our holiday home
I don’t think Mum liked it VERY much as there were lots of cars, Dad said it was a car show after all.  Well there was loads and loads of people there too so George, Millie and I had to be really really good and that’s a hard one for me!!  I did have some fun though …………………….. Mum was sitting quietly, reading a book and not really paying me a lot of attention (I don’t like that!!), so when some people lovely people came over to see me, I went over to see them - because I am nice like that!  Well I had to go under Mum’s chair to get to them and well, oops Mum fell off her chair and landed on the floor!  I thought it was funny, but Mum didn’t laugh much???  The people changed their minds then and didn’t say hello - I think it was because Mum looked so silly on the floor!!  I saw a lovely white boxer called Casper. He was deaf but so so smart, but then aren’t all we boxers???  We all got to meet Craig. He’s nice and I think he likes me too, I am sure I heard his saying to Mum that I was cute, but then I think so too.  He was really nice and came to meet us all to collect all the goodies, it was ever so nice of him.
Us on holiday
George and Millie were sitting on the seats looking out the windows at him, lol they did look funny. Lots of people came to talk to us today and they gave us all cuddles, but I think it was me that they really came to see, because I am so special!! That’s us just home now and I have had a mad run around the garden with Millie and George so that’s me pooped. We are going on holiday again I think, well Dad says so anyway but I think Mum will choose where next time!

Welcome to Lucy’s Blog

May 10th, 2008

Hello Everyone, my name is Lucy and I was rescued by Boxer Welfare Scotland in 2007.  I was so gorgeous and cute (well that’s what I think) that my foster Mum, Lorraine Cumming, couldn’t bear to part with me, so I became part of her family.

I live with my other boxer buddies, Millie and George and we have great fun together all the time.  We drive Mum nuts running around the garden, but she loves us all to bits!! I also live with some cats who I torment whenever I can!  Smokey tends to put up with me, but the two siamese, Pepsi and Max, get a little cross with me sometimes!

Because I was so cute, Boxer Welfare Scotland decided to adopt me as their mascot, so it is my face you will see on all the BWS logos.

BWS badge logo

Because I am so nosey and want to know everything that is going on with Boxer Welfare Scotland, Mum tells me all the gossip, so we thought it would be fun to pass it on to everyone else!!  What else is gossip for!  So keep checking back to see what I have been up to and what exciting things are happening with Boxer Welfare Scotland!
